Floyd Mayweather is fighting this week in boxing and that used to be a big occasion in the sport for many years but not now.
For years Floyd Mayweather was the number one name and number one pay per view star in the entire sport.
In America and worldwide even.
But as boxing returns to the masses at the moment in 2026 and is doing better than ever as a sport this year and mostly shortly, that is not the case for Floyd Maweather.
Granted, he fights in an exhibition this weekend.
But that used to mean something even for the name of Floyd Mayweather to be on a fight week in boxing was a great thing at one time.
He is fighting this Saturday in Greece in an exhibition Mike Zambidis and there should be more buzz about it being a Floyd Mayweather fight week.
He used to light up the strip in Las Vegas and even his exhibitions in some fights in Japan years ago after retiring used to garner great attention worldwide.
Mayweather was the box office name in boxing and he commanded respect worldwide.
But there is hardly anything there about his big exhibition in Greece this weekend at the moment.
He did some pressers recently but everyone was asking him what is happening with the proper professional boxing rematch with Manny Pacquiao.
He avoided the questions and nobody cared about this exhibition this week.
All anyone cares about is the Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 rematch and he still has not confirmed it yet.
That is all anyone is going to ask him about in Europe pretty much on fight week as well.
Who knows if the fight will even happen now, Pacquiao thinks Mayweather is running scared at this point.
There is no real hype there at all ahead of the fight this week.
All that is there is carnage for Mayweather for all sorts of reasons away from boxing.
Where the government even could be close to taking away his passport if he is not careful shortly.
The Mayweather Greece fight is happening this week but it is not the big show that his fights used to be.
He tried to organize an exhibition in the Congo recently in Africa with Mike Tyson and that fell flat on his face.
He let everyone down with it and organizers are slow to respond to him or to deal with him as well due to everything going on.
With him specifically in America.
The bright lights of Floyd Mayweather fights and events have lost their energy and acclaim that they once had.
Mayweather he will try to put on a show this week, who knows who he will fight after.
Once a boxing legend, now he is in turmoil.
