Teofimo Lopez looks to have landed big fight following Shakur Stevenson decimation

Teofimo Lopez has landed on his feet, at least for now, following the worst beating of his boxing career last time he competed.

He is moving up in weight following the fight with Shakur Stevenson earlier this year when Stevenson beat him by wide UD points win.

Busting up the face of Lopez and badly beating him. Outboxing him as well.

Those are the type of fights that can take something out of a fighter.

Lopez however is moving up to welterweight and he’s secured a title fight with Rolly Romero at welterweight.

A good result for Lopez it would look on paper. At least for now.

The match up might suit him style-wise as well with Romero’s aggressive, come forward action style at times.

This is similar to Teofimo Lopez and while both when they have their heads screwed on (which is rare enough) can box and stick to a game plan, both can be a bit wild.

Both can be erratic in the boxing ring and outside of it as well.

That is why some find their fights so entertaining, Romero and Lopez — the sheer wildness of their fight styles at times.

They do not mind taking a couple of punches to land a big one or to get one of their combinations off at times.

Lopez looked to have been struggling to make 140 pounds a while and might be a bit fresher with better cardio and so on at 147 pounds as well.

Important to note as well Romero has not boxed in a bit already now.

He is in danger of accumulating some ring rust following winning the title last year against Ryan Garcia.

Some are saying the fight is being targeted for August 22nd in Las Vegas but it is not confirmed yet.

Although Rolly Romero is considered a champion he has lost in recent years and some think he is a fighter in decline.

The same can be said for Teofimo Lopez. He does not look anywhere near the fighter he once was.

The Shakur Stevenson hammering showed that.

Teofimo Lopez is training with Floyd Mayweather lately but that won’t help him at this point.

Alas, all in all, in Lopez vs Romero, the sheer clash of styles here is entertaining alone.

Both can throw a lot of big bombs and in Lopez’ case, rapid combinations, at times, still.

Expect news on Romero vs Teofimo Lopez soon.
