Artur Beterbiev cannot be faulted at least for his propensity to go after and want only the big fights as shown again.
He has been a bit inactive in recent times though in the light-heavyweight division in professional boxing.
Not long ago a champion of the world at 175 pounds only to lose to division leader Dmitry Bivol in their second fight.
It was basically the only time Beterbiev found his punching power that had sparked everyone else basically in his career run into a brick wall.
We have seen that happen sometimes when big punchers and champions step up in level to take on a better boxer.
Bivol had better boxing ability compared to everyone Beterbiev had faced in his career and that is why the brick fists of Beterbiev did not work with him.
Beterbiev now is saying online he wants to go after the Dmitry Bivol trilogy fight next up.
Exciting news for boxing fans and the fight could be made in a big stadium in Russia easily enough.
Not only that he wants to take on cruiserweight champion then David Benavidez straight away after that then this year too.
That is the type of mindset that has seen boxing as a sport continue to return to the masses.
With that idea and level of matchmaking and quality of fights.
Those are exactly the type of fights that spectators of the sport want to see.
And is why boxing is doing well as a sport worldwide.
Bivol returned recently after extensive surgery in a comeback win after the surgery of sorts against an outmatched Eifert of Germany.
He outpointed him by UD on points.
Dmitry Bivol was not great in the bout though and the fight set a shocking record for Eifert as well in the bout.
Beterbiev and Bivol are 1-1 in pro boxing and have faced off and beaten one another as professionals.
Benavidez is flying high all the way at cruiserweight for now after beating former champion Gilberto Ramirez there recently.
So, the logical fight and trilogy you would expect first is Bivol vs Beterbiev 3.
Beterbiev is in his 40s now though and is not getting any younger and has said Bivol has waited for him to get old to fight him again.
So the trilogy is the natural fight to make now.
Some think Bivol was unlucky to not get the decision to win one of their fights.
Others think Beterbiev at the same time might have won their other fight on another night.
They were very close fights the both of them.
Beterbiev is 41 now and he is one of the best athletes in boxing so that is not old really.
When you consider Manny Pacquiao not long ago essentially nearly won a world title at 47.
Boxers are fighting better than ever into their 40s and becoming world champions there more than ever due to modern technology in training and sports science.
That said, there is an argument here that Bivol is ducking Beterbiev at this point.
It is up to prove Beterbiev wrong in that regard and sign the fight. This by all accounts has been put to him by Beterbiev behind the scenes.
