Floyd Mayweather is back in a boxing ring in Greece this week in an exhibition but talks will still point to one fight by reporters ahead of it.
Floyd Maweather might in fact be in Europe right now as we speak ahead of his boxing exhibition on Saturday in Greece.
Something he might not do too much more of soon if reports come true that the US government might seize his passport this year.
If that is the case, he will enjoy his final views of Europe.
The Manny Pacquiao rematch was meant to be in September but Pacquiao has returned to the gym to train this week and nothing confirmed.
He has said nothing about the Mayweather rematch happening either ahead of returning to training.
Some things to know on this as of now:
- Mayweather is boxing in Greece this week, not training for Pacquiao.
- He has a $7.2 million IRS tax lien hanging over him.
- He’s also dealing with a lawsuit from promoter CSI Sports.
- He keeps trying to change the rematch into just an exhibition.
- He publicly denied the September date even after his team agreed to it.
- The original September 19 spot at The Sphere was lost to a concert.
- He’s still renegotiating venues to get more money for himself.
- Pacquiao is already back in the gym and fully ready to go.
- Pacquiao’s camp even has a backup plan in case Mayweather pulls out.
- Mayweather’s own statements about the fight are vague and unconfident.
The whole thing looks very shaky at this point.
Pacquiao has said for some time now that Mayweather is scared to fight him and lose his undefeated record.
The longer things go on, the more the looks the case.
The buzz this week for a Mayweather fight is lacking for his exhibition as well.
There is not much of it there at all.
Expect Mayweather to get asked about the Pacquiao rematch again shortly this week at the pre fight press conference and so on.
