Demetrius Andrade is back to work soon in the boxing ring himself but has some views on Jaron Ennis who is highly touted at the moment.
American Demtrius Andrade is a former two-weight world champion at both super welterweight and middleweight for context, he is no slouch.
At one time he could have been one of the most underestimated world champions in boxing, not a great style, a bit boring, but tough to beat and he got the job done every time except once as a professional.
Only losing once in his pro career and that came last time in the ring back in 2023 when he lost to David Benavidez at super-middleweight.
The southpaw is due to return this summer on July 24th in Connecticut against an opponent to be named and has claimed Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis has everything in all boxing departments to make him a complete fighter.
Almost as if he is calling him the next coming of Ray Robinson or something.
While Ennis has shown much ability and is a world champion already at welterweight and undefeated in 35 pro fights so far (35-0-31 KO) he is far from a world beater on that level.
He has shown solid boxing ability near the highest level and is near the pound for pound boxing rankings for many but he is not on that level that Andrade claims.
He has shown some good punch power but his opponents have not been nowhere near the level of tests they should be yet to warrant that kind of praise.
The likes of Sergey Lipinets, Thomas Dulorme, Chris Van Heerden, David Avanesyan and in his most recent fight against Uisma Lima last year — are not the elite names on his resume to warrant such a total fighting machine in boxing claim — from Andrade.
He returns soon however and takes on Xander Zayas in a highly competitive fight on June 27th in New York at the Barclays Centre.
That is a fight that if he were to look impressive and knock out Xander Zayas in, then yeah, he would be doing a bit more to justify that kind of praise and comments from a former world champion.
Who knows what fights he will be in after that but he is in the fight of his life next shortly.
For now Jaron Ennis remains outside of the pound for pound boxing top 10 rankings.
