The Xander Zayas fight style may present some challengers for Jaron Boots Ennis soon in their highly anticipated match up.
Both have been emerging new talents in America and professional boxing in recent years and gone under the radar a bit.
In terms of stardom and not being household names.
Ennis can really punch though and a solid boxer. Zayas a solid boxer too — both at world championship level now at welterweight.
They fight soon this summer and some notes on their styles clashing:
- Xander Zayas uses disciplined feints, pre-slips, and angle exits to set up counters.
- Jaron Ennis relies on explosive athleticism but can get impatient and drop his hands.
- Zayas taxes mistakes with strong head movement and ring IQ when opponents overcommit.
- Both fighters share similar height and reach, favoring Zayas’s technical boxing.
- Zayas stays composed under pressure and lands first in disciplined exchanges.
We think Zayas’ style could give Ennis some legit, real problems in the boxing ring soon enough.
They fight later this month June 27th at the Barclays Centre in New York.
If Ennis were to win big here he goes straight into the pound for pound rankings in boxing for us — possibly higher than expected as well.
