Mike Tyson Reveals What Nearly Happened Before His Professional Debut

Worldwide unstoppable titan of America Mr. Mike Tyson has been globe trotting recently but now he’s back home in the good old USA.

For a little while at least.

Tyson has been conquering new markets for boxing in the East recently but has been back in the US now for a while on other businesses.

Many in boxing are talking about one Moses Itauma of the UK being the next Mike Tyson of today’s times.

But people forget Mike Tyson made his debut as a professional against Hector Mercedes back in March of 1985.

A long time ago and his record of being the youngest ever heavyweight champion in history at 20 still stands today.

Mike Tyson Reveals What Nearly Happened Before His Professional Debut

Even with all the fighters that fight into their 40s today in the division — let that sink in — that’s how much of legendary achievement it still it — to this day.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmell, boxing legend Mike Tyson said before his pro debut all those years ago however he nearly pulled out of the fight on the night:

“One hundred percent. I’m probably the most scared guy when it comes to, you know, fighting. Like, yeah, last night, I did my show for the first time in five years. And I was sweating like I was in a spelling bee, man.”

Now Tyson does shows where he talks about his life and fight career as well as many other businesses he’s involved in.

Crucially from a boxing perspective as the sport expands into the East soon Tyson is invaluable to this as he is the face of boxing basically, there’s no one more powerful in boxing than him.

There isn’t though.

Boxing needs to tap into Tyson more to help take the sport to new levels in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the far East, and the East in general, Russia too.

Wlad Putin of course would welcome Mike Tyson to Russia, quite certainly.

Not long ago even a boxing match between Tyson vs Russian fight legend Fedor was even talked about even.

Tyson really is absolutely pivotal and crucial more than anyone to this next phase of the expansion into the East, same with the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather, Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis, Holyfield and others too of course after that.

Imagine for the Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev super fight in a stadium in Russia next year of Tyson could commentate or even appear as a guest at the fight?

It would be quite excellent.

Recently Tyson went back to his old stomping ground in New York here for an event on his first mentor and trainer.
