Mike Tyson Goes Back To New York To Honor Italian American Mentor

Mike Tyson is still to this day the youngest ever heavyweight champion in boxing history and one man more than any helped him achieve that.

That was of course his most influential trainer in his early young days in his prime.

Italian American Cus D’Amato.

One of the legendary trainers who made the ‘Peeka-Boo’ style of fighting with the high guard and numeric number sequence combinations, drilled in to Tyson, work for his unique frame and explosive fight style in his younger days.

Tyson went back to the Catskills in New York recently to where it all began to honor D’Amato where a big crowd turned out for the old trainer now deceased (RIP) here:

Not many picked up on the above, at all.

It shows how big Cus D’Amato still is in New York to this day.

D’Amato died before Tyson became world champion at the age of 20 but did his job in getting him there to that level before passing.

Ultimately, there is only one ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

He was 20 when he became the youngest heavyweight champion ever.

Even after all these years since that record was set in 1986, the likes of Moses Itauma of the UK and others still chase it to this day.
