Terence Crawford has been retired for a minute now from professional boxing and left the sport with his faculties.
At least for now, unless he were to get back in there in another fight.
Crawford is retired with an undefeated record but has been speaking this week how the dangers of boxing are something he warned his offspring of.
In terms of the conequences that can come from boxing whether brain damage and in rare cases some deaths have occured.
He mentioned that some of his kids have asked him about boxing but he shot down the idea.
Showing them videos and clips of boxers that had brain damage, died and had concussions.
He went on to say recently that he told them he did boxing so they do not have to.
Maybe there is some wisdom a little bit from Crawford there in the last part but for balance important to note he is wrong on boxing’s safety record.
Professional boxing’s record for safety is on par with other professional sports and like any contact sport, it carries risk.
But the fact is boxing is far better than it was years ago in this regard and fighters at all levels are aware of the dangers.
On the risks and so on.
Modern advances in diet, sports science and technology has helped professional boxers immeasurably in protecting themselves.
As regards Crawford’s sentiments, many former champions have had their sons box more than ever in recent years.
Whether sons of boxing legends and sons of former boxing champions, they have all being boxing more and more in recent years.
So boxer Terence Bud Crawford does not represent the majority in this view, for balance, important to note.
Bud Crawford went on to add that he managed to talk some of his kids out of boxing due to the serverity of the sport but again, he is not in the majority.
Boxing is more popular than it has been again in decades with young people starting boxing more across the US and worldwide than ever.
That is the truth of it.
