Xander Zayas has brought up something on Jaron Boots Ennis ahead of their fight and it is a bit controversial.
Jaron Ennis has come about in recent times in the US and worldwide in boxing as certainly an emerging force in the sport.
He has become a world champion at welterweight but some have said that he has stayed in his native state of Philly for too long.
This is what Zayas has said in recent days as well mentioning he thinks Ennis is overrated basically with a bit of a padded recorded built out of Philly.
Sheltering him a bit per se.
If that is partially right then Jaron Ennis has nowhere to hide now though.
He is due to get back in the ring this weekend in his toughest fight to date with Zayas and everything is to fight for.
The winner could very well see himself go into the top 10 pound for pound boxing rankings after this weekend.
Xander Zayas has the style also that could give Jaron Ennis real problems this weekend.
The fight is this Saturday night at the Barclays Centre in New York in the US and some of the crowd there you’d expect would be for Ennis.
But that does not win fights.
Who boxes best, wants it most and gets the game plan right best and adjusts mid fight usually wins 99 per cent of time in pro boxing.
Ennis is 35-0 (31 K0) in professional boxing and can punch and has been around for a while but Zayas has a bit of a point we think.
Because outside of boxing and regular spectators in the sport no one really knows who Jaron Ennis is.
Not really.
Even in America in his home country he is not that well known.
He needed to have more tough fights and this weekend is his first real tough fight in many ways.
It took him 36 professional fights to get to a really challenging fight in Zayas this weekend.
This can have a number of effects on the night.
He could rise to the occasion and box to the level of the better quality fighter in front of him and live up to all the hype about him.
Or it could go the other way for Jaron Ennis too.
He might fold and sink a bit and the occasion, expecially in a big stage like New York, in a fight of this magnitude, could get to him.
The pressure in many ways is all on Jaron Ennis this weekend.
He knows it too.
Alright Ennis became a unified champion in 35 pro fights but Xander Zayas did it in 23 basically — something Zayas will have a bit of an edge in.
In terms of the mental advantage this week on fight week and when he gets in there on the night on Saturday.
Many will think Jaron Ennis will win this easy this weekend based on all the hype but do not be so sure of that.
Do not write off Xander Zayas, he could very well shock and the world here against Jaron Ennis.
Philly will not be in Jaron Ennis’ corner or in there fighting for him on Saturday night.
He will be in a different State and fighting someone who is coming to win.
