Lomachenko vs Tank Davis fight finally in play

lomachenko vs tank davis

The long awaited Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Tank Davis has taken its most real step to reality yet.

For years the fight was called for by everyone in boxing and supporters of the sport worldwide.

It appears Bob Arum was behind the fight not being made as Lomachenko has said he is coming back now to boxing this year now that he is free from Bob Arum’s supposed contract with him.

He has listed Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis as one of the names he wants to fight next.

But how would a Lomachenko vs Tank Davis play out now after all these years on?

Let’s take a look.

Lomachenko (38) vs Tank Davis (31-32) – Late 2026 Style Breakdown:

  • Both southpaws create a mirror matchup with lots of lead-hand clashes and left crosses.
  • Loma’s elite footwork and angles remain sharp but slower after long layoff and at age 38.
  • Tank uses patient counter-punching and Philly Shell to bait Loma and explode with power.
  • Early rounds stay tactical. Loma circles and feints to find range while Tank measures with jabs.
  • Loma tries to control pace with volume and pivots. Tank plants feet and looks for one big counter left.
  • Tank’s superior power and timing become dangerous every time Loma stays in pocket too long.
  • Mid-fight, Loma’s hand speed and creativity may still shine in short bursts but fatigue faster.
  • Tank cuts off the ring better and uses strength in clinches to wear down the older Loma.
  • Late rounds favor Tank as Loma’s movement slows and Tank lands heavier shots.
  • Overall, youth, power, and shorter layoff give Tank the stylistic edge in a high-IQ fight.

In theory you could give Davis the edge but he’s been inactive himself a lot and in and out of trouble away from boxing.

He hasn’t fought now since that draw with Lamont Roach and he wasn’t overly impressive in that fight.

Many thought he lost it.

Also Lomachenko has shown he can come back after time away before and beat younger fighters like Australian George Kambosos.

Who knows what fight is next for either but this would be an entertaining bout if put together, Lomachenko vs Tank Davis.
