Callum Walsh came through a tough fight in Dublin in Saturday night but maybe learned some lessons in boxing.
The Irish boxer remains undefeated, just about.
He had been dropped on Saturday night and some notes for him to learn some lessons from;
- Stay alert until the bell – dropped expecting a break that never came
- Bounced back instantly – left-hand counter floored Denny in round two
- Jab controlled everything – kept Denny at range all night
- Body work early – left hooks slowed Denny’s pressure
- Cut the clinching – point deduction nearly cost him
- Fought through injury – suspected broken orbital, still finished strong
- Don’t coast – let Denny recover after the knockdown
- Awkward southpaws expose gaps – still work to do
- Won rounds, not moments – work rate beat flashy knockdowns
- Tough fights teach more – 10 hard rounds beat an early KO
Irish boxer Callum Walsh moves on his professional record to 17-0-11 KO after his latest victory.
His chin is suspect though. He has been hurt plenty already in his short career and not against the best fighters on Earth, to put it mildly.
He can be decked easy by some of the best fighters on the planet, no problem.
He needs to improve his defense and get a better coach than an old over the hill boxing trainer Freddie Roach at this point.
Fast too.
The Irishman otherwise gets flattened soon by someone near the highest level.
