Technical boxing areas Conor Benn can exploit in Ryan Garcia

Ryan Garcia takes on Conor Benn next up as the next scheduled bout for the US boxing star at least but he needs to stay focused.

He has been spending a crazy amount of time in the circles and company of influencers lately and doing much media.

Conor Benn looks more focused in his training for their bout.

Here are different technical boxing areas Benn can look to break Garcia up a bit in soon:

  • Head pulls straight back – ripe for Benn’s overhand right.
  • Right hand drops when retreating – easy target for straight rights.
  • Hesitates against big punchers – Benn’s power will make him second-guess.
  • Shorter pressure fighters bother him – Benn’s squatting, lunging style fits the bill.
  • Vulnerable to body shots – shorter guys have hurt him there before.
  • Squares up when punching – lets Benn smother his left hook on the inside.
  • Leaps in with chin exposed – Benn can time the counter.
  • Fights at close range instead of using reach – plays into Benn’s wheelhouse.
  • Over-reliant on left hook – makes him predictable for Benn to read.
  • Cracks under sustained pressure – forces old defensive mistakes once Benn stays on him.

The overall thing though is for Ryan Garcia to stay interested in boxing and focused on training in the time ahead.

It does not look all rosy for Garcia in his working relationship with promoter Oscar De La Hoya either.

There is certainly a lot going on currently, he needs to remain focused on boxing.
