Ryan Garcia cannot get caught up with being preoccupied with influencers anymore

King Ryan Garcia has been called an Instagram fighter before in boxing but he hangs out with streamers and influencers more than anyone.

Sure, there is a place for this, certainly in modern day professional boxing.

Where the demographic of the spectator is younger in the US and certainly influencer boxing is a big thing here to stay.

But Garcia needs to be focused on his training, not always focused on influencers due to:

  • Often he trains in living rooms, not boxing gyms — looks like content creation, not fight prep.
  • Chooses selfies over sparring — image comes before actual work.
  • Prioritizes streamers & late-night hangs — not locked in on his opponent.
  • Has admitted to not caring before fights — pattern of mental no-shows.
  • Needs to prove hunger after a loss — but looks distracted instead.
  • Loses respect from analysts — being called an “Instagram fighter.”
  • No visible discipline — camp doesn’t look like a championship preparation.
  • Opponent is fully locked in — stark contrast in seriousness, Rolly Romero not long ago.
  • Trainer has shown frustration before — same issues repeat, trainers have brought this up with him.
  • Past social media meltdowns — proves he lets online noise derail him. Gets distracted by them too much.

The flip side of this it is great for the profile and brand awareness of Garcia.

But that does not win boxing fights.

Conor Benn, his next upcoming opponent, will be locked in on Ryan Garcia this year.

Garcia needs to try to do the same.
