Ryan Garcia at last looks like he is about to finally agree a fight in boxing next but he looks to have wussied out a bit.
The big fight that all of America and world boxing spectators had been waiting on is of course the Devin Haney rematch next up with Ryan Garcia.
Instead some are saying that in fact he will be trying to fight Conor Benn of the UK next up.
A fight no one wants to see or no one is interested in.
The Haney rematch is at least five times bigger and even Garcia’s alleged, in decline promoter, Oscar De La Hoya said as much recently.
Benn is only now based in the US for boxing and had a solid win over Regis Prograis recently but he is not known much outside of Europe.
Benn is a big puncher and could be dangerous but the real danger fight and big fight for Garcia was the Devin Haney fight.
A bout where both would have come into the bout in winning form as well and having moved up to welterweight (147 pounds).
Garcia has been seen at an MMA Conor McGregor event this week and it is not exactly clear who he is going to be promoted by.
Or who will promote the actual Conor Benn fight.
Will it be the UFC or part promoted by De La Hoya (who looks finished in boxing at this point).
The UFC is in decline now massively overall.
It looks like they are trying to get more into boxing as they see boxing booming at the moment and taking off at the moment.
At the end of the day the Conor Benn fight pales in comparison in all aspects to a Devin Haney rematch for Ryan Garcia.
