Manny Pacquiao looks like he is without an opponent at the moment in boxing due to Floyd Mayweather and has many options.
There are all sorts of fights Pacquiao could look to try to have.
From world title fights that are very winnable for him against the likes of Liam Paro for instance.
But if he is looking to have just one last professional boxing match in the sport this year he will look to do surely two things.
Get paid big and make it count for something.
Whether for a title but that is less important now as the world title belts do not mean as much anymore.
He will probably just go for the biggest fight he can get in professional boxing.
Against the biggest name with the most spectator interest in it.
The novelty factor of a Conor McGregor boxing match is something that will of course be there.
McGregor looks out of sorts in recent years and is returning to the sport of MMA (mixed marital arts) in the UFC this summer.
If he were to lose that which he may, he might look to have a boxing match. Or at least try to.
Pacquiao is an advanced years now and McGregor might think he can catch him slipping of he could beat Mayweather in some rounds when they boxed.
Some years ago now.
Mayweather ultimately chose to win when he turned on his boxing ability against McGregor however in middle rounds.
The fight itself would see two big names from the world of combat sports collide in more advanced stages of their fighting endeavours.
Both are southpaws as well and Pacquiao is the bigger puncher of the two it would be fair to say.
Even at nearly 48 years old later this year.
Pacquiao would still have faster hands and faster feet than McGregor as well even at this stage in boxing.
The world’s of boxing and MMA are more close than ever now and fighters from both sports continue to come over to boxing.
McGregor is still a part owner in bareknuckle boxing as well so has ties still to the world of boxing.
The co promotions that can be made now more than ever with Pacquiao’s own boxing promotional company make the fight easy to make.
Intheory.
Both appeared to be quite close as well in recent years so there should not be an issue between them if they wanted to make a bout.
