An ex Canelo opponent finally bounced back from his defeat from Canelo Alvarez the Mexican boxing star — and did so in style.
Friday night boxing is back in Germany occasionally now as is weekend professional boxing in Germany and Cuban William Scull was in action.
Scull as a Cuban is known to American boxing fans and had the big fight with still the biggest name in US boxing, Saul Canelo Alvarez.
He lost to Canelo Alvarez last year in Saudi Arabia by UD on points.
Last night he won by 4th round knockout vs Evander Castill boxing in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
He had tried to bounce back from the Alvarez defeat earlier this year but lost by a stoppage himself to Jacob Bank in the final round at super-middleweight.
That was back in Denmark on January 31st earlier this year.
The Canelo defeat was in May of last year for Scull so 14 months on he has now finally put the Canelo fight to bed.
William Scull contolled the action from the centre of the ring.
Using clever feints and boxing behind the jab he was too powerful for his opponent Evander Castillo of Venezuela.
His power told in the fight and hurt his opponent many times.
The straight right hand is what closed the show and got the stoppage for him in round 4.
Let’s see what William Scull does next in the super-middleweight division.
A good start for boxing on the 4th of July weekend 2026.
