Oscar De La Hoya Finally Decides To Talk Sense

For a while now the working relationship between boxer Ryan Garcia and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya has been on the ropes. Now this below.

On the week of his Garcia’s last fight with Mario Barrios — where Garcia won a title at 147 pounds (welterweight) he said he was done with De La Hoya.

He said this going into the fight on fight week but then changed his tune a bit all of a sudden after the win on fight night.

Not very obviously but he appeared to be talking with him again.

Recently Garcia went on big talk shows in the US and said his next fight is against Conor Benn.

We said at the time it was not confirmed and low and behold, it looks like it will not be happening now.

Current Ryan Garcia promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, has played down the fight chances of happening.

And said nobody wants to see Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn.

Wow, Oscar De La Hoya has actually talked more sense in that then in years.

But it is too little too late for De La Hoya — he is clearly in decline as a promoter and is scraping the barrell now.

As boxing returns to the masses daily and all the time, De La Hoya looks more a spent force in the sport every day.

He is trying to get a big fight for Ryan Garcia when it is obvious the two are not even seeing eye to eye if the fights they are saying are next for Garcia are not the same.

De La Hoya has said the Devin Haney rematch is much bigger — which it is.

He is right on that.

Haney had offered Shakur Stevenson a fight at a catchweight recently so a lot of offers are going on at the moment.

As well, De La Hoya has cost other big fights from happening recently with poor promotional ability.

Namely the Jaron Ennis vs Vergil Ortiz fight — which fell through due to De La Hoya.

All in all, the Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney 2 fight is easily one of the biggest fights in America and worldwide boxing at the moment.

If Shakur Stevenson is ducking Devin Haney at the moment — team Haney can go straight to Ryan Garcia surely and get the fight on.

Or at least try to.
