It is fight month for Errol Spence vs Tim Tszyu this month and many questions continue to arise ahead of the fight.
Namely on American boxer and former welterweight champion Errol Spence.
The fight happens all the way in Australia on July 25th and marks the first time Spence will fight since the Terence Crawford fight.
Where ‘Bud’ Crawford schooled him and bust him and knocked him out brutally over three years ago.
One of his sparring partners ahead of the Tszyu fight this month, Brian Mendoza of the US, has had some intriguing comments on sparring Spence recently.
Mendoza claims Spence did not look that bad in sparring and said he was able to absorb some of his big punches.
He also claimed that Spence is not going through the motions and is putting the work in.
We are not so sure about that.
Mendoza comes across as someone just trying to be friendly with Spence and is a bit over flattering as he is being paid to spar with him.
Of course he is not going to say bad things about sparring him ahead of the fight as Spence is paying him to spar him.
Mendoza is 23-5-16KO and has competed at super-welterweight so is alright sparring for Spence getting ready for Tszyu.
He takes on Tszyu though at 158 pounds in a catchweight this month.
Tszyu actually defeated Mendoza on points widely by unanimous points decision back in 2023 in Australia.
So he won’t be too concerned about Mendoza’s comments on sparring Spence before their fight this month.
Just another advantage for Tim Tszyu going into the fight this month.
Errol Spence is making many mistakes going into the bout.
Ahead of the fight Tim Tszyu is warning Errol Spence he should have retired.
