So the TKO controversial boxing bill passes house after some back and forth. It is done but what are next steps for the Act?
The new updated Muhammad Ali Act really shouldn’t be that controversial.
Sure, TKO are the ones pushing for it but everyone will be able to utilize it who are promoters in the US.
It will also effect all pro boxers in the US.
It isn’t that game changing or controversial like some have claimed. Upon balanced analysis now the dust has settled, it will make things a small bit better for boxers.
Just a bit of an update, that’s all. Here’s how we think things will proceed next.
Next steps for the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act after passing the House:
- The bill is now in the Senate and has been referred to the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.
- The committee must hold a markup session, make any changes — and vote to advance it to the full Senate.
- If approved by the committee — the full Senate will debate and vote on the bill.
- The Senate version must match the House version exactly or both chambers must reconcile the differences.
- Once both House and Senate pass identical text — the bill goes to President Trump for signature.
- After the President signs it — the law takes effect and becomes legally active.
There is no exact time frame but it is on its way now.
There surely will be more game changing things in America down the road after this though for boxing and UFC and all professional combat sport.
This is only a small step.
But a move in the right direction.
Nico Ali Walsh the grandson of Muhammad Ali even got involved in the lobbying against the Act but he couldn’t stop it.
