There was a famous DAZN pay per view is dead ad before that was pushed but they were not alone in their bogus prediction.
Promoters like Eddie Hearn and many others in the last seven years have said pay per view is dead in boxing.
It is not.
Not in boxing or any professional sport.
What is more true is certain price points for it are.
Charging 80 to 100 dollars simply doesn’t cut it anymore with fans. That is what is dead.
It is looking like more and more now the new correct price point for big fights in America is $49.99.
What we are starting to see is this is becoming the best price to get the most number of buys, most revenue for events while growing the professional boxing product and most importantly, delivering for the customer.
You, the boxing consumer.
On the DAZN pay per view ad, here’s what happened:
DAZN was wrong about PPV.
- In 2018, DAZN ran a big campaign saying “Pay Per View is dead.”
- They claimed their subscription model would replace PPV forever.
- Years later, DAZN started offering big boxing fights as PPV.
- In 2026, DAZN uses both subscriptions and PPV events.
- Many major boxing cards on DAZN now require extra PPV payment or their premium tier.
- The model they once called dead is still alive on their own platform.
We rest our case.
Pay per view boxing is alive and well.
