The dust has settled on Zuffa Boxing 1 last week now. Zuffa Boxing 2 is this weekend but learning is relentless for White and his team.
The learning and rapid relentless improvements is what makes the UFC the best fight promoters in the world.
This almost daily need to keep improving is why people like them and even basketball player and NBA legend Michael Jordan are the best.
They just like winning and improving all the time.
Then winning again some more.
Again and again.
That said, Dana White after Zuffa Boxing 1 last weekend put things in perspective:
“This building and the building next door—none of this would exist without boxing. I’ve talked about it for a long time, and here we are. You know, everything in life is about timing, and right here, right now, it all feels perfect. The timing feels absolutely perfect. And now we’ve got a lot of work to do. I’ve talked a lot of smack about things I didn’t like about boxing. But I also said that if you look at the UFC—not just the success of it, but the sustainability of it—I took everything I loved about boxing and everything I hated about boxing and used that to build the UFC.”
Then, responding to a question about making boxing more sustainable and consistent, like a league/business), afterwards:
“Listen, look at it this way. If you look at the NFL and what they’ve been able to do over the last 50 or 60 years—I don’t even know how long it’s been around—boxing’s been around two or three times longer than them. So if boxing was built like a business, imagine where it would be today.”
He’s right.
Boxing generates surely trillions of dollars around the globe.
Due to the international nature of professional boxing.
When you consider all the big impacts it has on both local and international economies around the world when it does big fights.
And opens big gyms and does big functions and events from the likes of the IBA and others too in amateur and other non fight-pro boxing sometimes- related events.
There is no sport as international as boxing.
That’s wide the wide net of the huge money is generates is probably unrivalled.
Good to see White wanting to improve on Zuffa Boxing 1 already.
Here’s the fight times for Zuffa Boxing 2 ahead of Sunday.
