It is good to see in recent years Teddy Atlas and Mike Tyson get along and put their rift behind him, but something needs to be mentioned on Tyson.
Everyone sees how well Mike Tyson is doing now worldwide. Mike Tyson basically is boxing. He’s larger than life with his following around the world in the East and West.
So much so literally governments and corporations have him in new countries and markets for new businesses and boxing related things every week.
He was only in Libya last week with the red carpet rolled out for Tyson by the government.
The US government are constantly rolling out the red carpet for Tyson with the programs he does for young people in the US, new school businesses he runs and more.
That’s all great and everything. The future is bright for Tyson obviously but on his final boxing match on his professional career.
Okay it says a loss on it to Jake Paul and we understand people hate Jake Paul because of that. Why though. Tyson knew what he was getting himself into and the risks. He was compensated for it.
Here’s the important thing though.
How many 58 years old in the history of boxing or any form of combat sport or unarmed combat have nearly literally died, then gone into a professional heavyweight boxing ring and fought someone half their age?
On Netflix. And last the entire duration and not get knocked out. That is a level or frankly borderline insane bravery and border line insane courage.
How Many 58 Year Old Boxers In History After Not Fighting In Over A Decade, Nearly Die Months Before The Fight, Then Stepped Into A Real Pro Heavyweight Fight vs An Opponent Half Their Age
The man nearly literally died and still went a head with an actual professional heavyweight boxing match against someone half his age. Here’s the facts:
Mike Tyson suffered a near-fatal medical emergency in May 2024 due to a bleeding stomach ulcer.
An incident before the Jake Paul match occurred on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, where Tyson vomited blood and collapsed.
He lost half his blood volume and required eight transfusions.
Tyson lost 25-26 pounds in 11 days during hospitalization.
The Jake Paul fight, originally set for July 20, 2024, was postponed to November 15, 2024. Tyson still went ahead with the fight and lasted the full duration.
Tyson deserves all the success and great things he is doing for boxing and in business in many new industries he is taking off in at the moment. Worldwide.
It was a dangerous thing he did going into a real professional prize fight after nearly dying with someone half his age.
There will never be someone in the history of boxing or professional combat sport, or unarmed combat licensed of any kind, who will even attempt that again.
Enough said.
