Is Stephen Fulton Jr still an elite fighter?
It is tough to tell in Fulton sometimes.
He is 23-2-8 KO at the moment in pro boxing, is the 32 year old lightweight from Philadelphia.
Some things to note on him;
- Returned to win a world title after his loss to Inoue
- Blamed a brutal weight cut for his compromised performance against Foster
- Overcame personal turmoil including a breakup and home break-in
- Won his rematch against Brandon Figueroa decisively
- Aims to become a three-division champion
- Refocused on footwork and tactical fundamentals
- Used the Inoue loss as fuel for his resurgence
- Defeated Carlos Castro and Figueroa to silence doubters
- Proved mental fortitude through therapy and personal work
- Remains a key figure in the elite featherweight scene
He lost his last fight though after moving up to one hundred and thirty pounds against O’Shaquie Foster back in December of last year.
Foster has since had a strong victory again since.
Stephen Fulton looks like he is on the shelf and might have been a victim of the PBC Boxing and Haymon decline a bit also.
They previously had not boxed him much in the past, notoriously so, actually.
He had meant to box last month but Stephen Fulton missed weight by a shocking amount.
So much so, many are saying he is cooked at the highest level at this point.
They could be right.
