Jake Paul is maybe one of those things in boxing that at some point shall be fondly forgotten that people do not care about.
He definitely took his boxing training seriously at points, you have to say at least that about him, to an extent.
But at other points he did not. Clearly.
He fought a bunch of old men over the hill from MMA and even from boxing and beat up an old Mike Tyson.
He could not even knock him out either.
He beat Chavez Jr but the Mexican had not fought in years really and he had seen far better days. Not long after Chavez Jr even got deported from the US to Mexico.
Jake Paul as a boxer stacked stuff in his favor every time and he took former champion Anthony Joshua some rounds and even landed shots in him just before last Christmas.
But as a boxer he is basically gone from boxing at this point.
It is coming into September at this stage, his last fight is a long time ago vs Joshua at this stage.
He has recovered form injury in the fight by this point and is more interest in promoting female boxing, that simply outside of Claressa Shields, Laila Ali and so on, never took off to the masses.
Boxing is returning to the masses though, men’s professional boxing, and Paul is a promoter in the sport that has not promoted that popular events other than his actual fights themselves.
He had proven effective in that but not at promoting other fighters as he did not have any big names really, if you look at it.
He is promoting MMA, mixed martial arts also at this stage, so you look at it, Paul just had dipped into boxing to get some paydays and start a combat sports promotion.
Not a great one but ESPN picked up some of it so far but they shall see through him at some point, rest assured.
ESPN can do better than Jake Paul in the US for their combat sports content. They sent the UFC packing recently and as boxing is clearly the more popular sport again, they have options to promote professional men’s boxing again in other avenues soon.
Rest assured.
ESPN Boxing are smart and shall see that not long from this point.
Boxing is flying, Jake Paul brought a lot of young people to the sport.
Boxing used him for that to its advantage as a sport.
That had been the best of Jake Paul in boxing.
Certainly as an active professional boxer.
He looks gone from boxing as active pro fighter at this point.
He had just proved to be a bit of a promoter, in the end.
