Boxing is on the rise in popularity but influencer boxing has given signs of decline recently in some aspects if you look at it.
Boxing is doing great.
Professional men’s boxing that it is. It is on more streaming platforms than ever in countries around the globe.
Jake Paul started the big influencer craze in boxing some years ago.
Maybe even Conor McGregor of the UFC did before that actually years before that in his only boxing match as a pro, a defeat by TKO vs Floyd some years ago.
Jake Paul last fought though before Christmas just gone at this stage in a brutal knockout loss to former champion Anthony Joshua.
Also KSI’s Misfits Promotion is still there but pro boxers like Darren Till of the UK, a former name in MMA, has gone to bareknuckle boxing all of a sudden recently.
He could of course fight in professional boxing again but maybe not for KSI, maybe things are not going great at Misfits there.
Misfits had marketed itself purely as an influencer promotion in a sense in that he had streamers fighting former big names from the space of MMA and that.
Tony Ferguson of the US formerly of the UFC another name on that circuit.
Sure, some fights have been entertaining, and again, like Jake Paul, it brought added, extra audience to professional boxing that had not been there before.
More eyeballs and companies to boxing, expanding the professional boxing product overall audience in recent years.
Great.
But do not expect it to eclipse boxing.
Boxing stands on its merits as a professional sport based on high level matches been made more than ever, in recent years again at least, involving the best professional boxers in each division boxing one another on a more regular basis than they had been.
That is the reason professional boxing is doing great again.
Influencer boxing simply added to that, extra audience, some of that added audience stuck around as spectators of proper professional boxing and high level fights in pro boxing of proper prospects, contenders and champions.
In professional boxing.
Great.
Boxing victorious again as a sport.
Triumphant and shall be forever.
Boxing never dies.
