So Mexico’s first ever and only heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr is finally looking to get back in the boxing ring.
After all this time and all these years and all the talk from him. It looks like he is at least trying now to come back to boxing.
As boxing returns to the masses all the time.
It has been mentioned that Ruiz might be looking at an opponent called Damian Knyba for a possible fight in New Jersey on September 4th.
Damian Knyba is a Polish 6 feet 7 inches tall giant heavyweight with a record of 17-1-11 KO.
He only ever lost to Agit Kabayel in his one defeat — a man who is flying high in professional boxing at the moment.
Ruiz if he gets in shape for that would come into that bout expected to win but he has not fought now since 2024.
In a draw with faded American heavyweight Jarrell Miller as well in his last fight.
He had not fought in two years before that as well since 2022 in a win over Luis Ortiz of Cuba.
It was 2021 before that when he fought before that in a win against Chris Arreola.
Then it was all the way back in 2019 since he fought and lost to Anthony Joshua in the rematch.
And it was earlier again in 2019 before that when he last fought before that when he knocked out Anthony Joshua when he won the heavyweight title at the time.
Becoming the first Mexican (of Mexican descent) heavyweight champion of all time.
Ruiz has only fought 5 times in total since 2019 including the two Anthony Joshua fights so has a lot of ring rust.
Andy Ruiz in our view was the beginning of the end of Anthony Joshua but Ruiz should have boxed more since.
Let’s see how Ruiz gets on next up.
Andy Ruiz is currently 35-2-1-22KO.
