Tyson Fury has not been himself at all lately, now he is going in with a very strange opponent in a strange place in strange circumstances.
Thailand is not known for big professional boxing events but in one sense it is great Fury wants to bring one there this summer (but not the way he is doing so).
It is good to see boxing expand in the East but Fury is doing so not in good circumstances against a terrible opponent and not even making the bout viewable to the public online.
There is no network or streaming agreement to show the Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach of Poland on July 24th apprently.
He is saying it just for charity but how can it be a pro boxing match, a prize fight then? That is not how professional boxing works.
Fury has said the fight will only be available to be watched by those whom he plans to have in attendance there on the night.
And will only make this available to 1500 people approximately.
No good.
Tyson Fury had a comeback fight recently on Netflix where he struggled but won a UD points decision and Netflix are obviously not impressed since.
This is what is going on here.
He did not set the world alight recently and Netflix will have not been pleased with the investment in Fury this year.
Despite being pleased overall with the sport of boxing which is a hot sport again in the US and worldwide.
Returning to the masses all the time.
So for Fury during this great time for boxing again to be an outlier and look to take on a guy who has lost a rake of times in recent years, is dreadful.
For boxer Tyson Fury personally, that is. The sport will do well anyway now and yall year ahead.
Fury, a man who not long ago wowed crowds in America with trench war battles with the likes of Deontay Wilder — this is a far distance from those days.
And his win in Germany against Wladimir Klitschko days.
As boxing rises, Fury is falling with this Thailand ‘fight’.
It is highly questionable if the authorities or athletic commission in Thailand will look to grant a professional boxing license for such a spectacle.
There is no way on Earth this should count towards Tyson Fury’s professional boxing record and go on it (35-2-1-24 KO).
A shambolic situation and fight for Tyson Fury.
This, supposedly ahead of an expected Anthony Joshua fight later this — who knows if that fight even happens though.
Boxing will move on and do well now as sport, this summer and as well later in the year anyway if it does not happen.
Alas, heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury is getting hammered for this fight in Thailand.
Both for the quality of the opponent and not making it even available to watch online.
Quite rightly he is getting slaughtered for this at the moment.
