Manny Pacquiao looks to have landed on his feet following Mayweather rematch situation

Manny Pacquiao as he has often done in his boxing career and life looks to have stumbled on a big opportunity again.

Pacquiao will be 48-years-old this Decemeber and is still actively competing near the highest level of world championship professional boxing.

He had an agreement with Floyd Mayweather signed for a rematch this year but it is not happening now.

Due to factors not to do with Pacquiao and to do with Mayweather.

With Mayweather supposedly even having taken an advance on the pay cheque.

That said, the Liam Paro world title fight is now being eyed to be presented to Manny Pacquiao.

If he wants the fight.

This would give Pacquiao an opportunity to become a world champion at the incredible age of 47.

For a small weight fighter to do this is unheard of.

Bernard Hopkins is the oldest world champion in boxing history at the age of 49.

George Foreman is the oldest heavyweight champion in history at 45.

Hopkins unified the old (no longer relevant) four belts light-heavyweight titles after he turned 49.

But for Pacquiao to win a title at 47 would be superhuman given he is so small.

Small weight fighters never usually compete at the highest level that long.

Even though the old world title belts no longer mean anything, and it is all about the fights, the lineal title in each division (the man who beat the man) and pound for pound rankings now, still a unique achievement.

30-year-old Liam Paro of Australia is maybe one of boxing’s weakest champions at the moment in terms of types of world title holders there currently.

This is surely a fight if Pacquiao gets in shape could see himself winning and outboxing Paro in.

He has the ability and experience to box circles around him.

If Pacquiao basically beat Mario Barrios last year in a title fight only for the judges’ to score it a draw — Paro is much more winnable as a fight.

Paro is smaller and has lost previously as well to Richardson Hitchins in recent years.

Who knows what fights Pacquiao will be in next up but maybe he will at least try to pursue the Paro fight if presented to him.

He certainly does not need Floyd Mayweather — that is for sure.
