Andy Ruiz Jr is in a quagmire at the moment in his heavyweight professional boxing career after a latest twist and turn.
Tyson Fury is apparently fighting again shortly this summer in boxing but who knows and talks were that he wanted his warm up fight for Anthony Joshua to be against none other than Andy Ruiz Jr.
Joshua’s original conqueror some years ago who knocked Joshua spark out to become Mexico’s first heavyweight champion in boxing history.
But now talks are that Fury will not be fighting Ruiz, who with his fast hands and Fury’s sometimes unreliable punch resistance and faded ability compared to years ago, would have been more than a handful for him.
Fury now talks suggest wants to fight Joshua in the US later this year and take another warm up fight instead this summer but who knows what will happen with him.
That leaves Andy Ruiz Jr looking for an opponent again.
Ruiz, surely one of boxing’s greatest underachievers in the history of the entire sport of professional boxing, certainly at heavyweight.
A man who had the world at his feet at one time after wiping out Anthony Joshua. Joshua has never been the same since years on and is washed up at the highest level of heavyweight boxing now.
Ruiz, nowadays has lost his urgency and motivation again for the sport in reality as if he was really hungry to get back in there he would have signed himself a fight by now.
It is the summer now and everything is happening now in boxing and Ruiz not having got himself a fight by now shows you where he is really at mentality.
He may be back in the gym and impressive on the pads but that does not equate to the old Andy Ruiz Jr of old.
A man who went off the rails with his eating and ballooned to astronomically high weights after defeating Anthony Joshua many years ago now.
That unreliable mindset is rearing its ugly head again as boxing is buzzing at the moment and the heavyweight division right now is weak and is quite literally — there for the taking right now.
The main champion Usyk drastically under-performed in his last fight with a kickboxing champion called Rico and is not what he was, either.
If Ruiz was really serious and focused on boxing he would have found a way to get back in the ring by now.
And fight again.
There’s plenty of fights there for him and plenty of money, even someone like Deontay Wilder he could box — but Ruiz’s lack of desire is evident right now.
