The Conor Benn American adventure has just started but what does it really hold for him in boxing.
It started with a somewhat impressive win over Regis Prograis on points earlier this year although many were expecting a knockout.
Especially coming down from middleweight after the rematch with Chris Eubank Jr where he dropped Eubank so back at welterweight people thought he’d have the power to get Regis Prograis out of there earlier this year.
He’s supposedly taking on Ryan Garcia this September but that hasn’t been confirmed just yet.
Some things to bare in mind on the US so far for him:
- Conor Benn has secured wins in U.S. already, showing he isn’t intimidated.
- He’s had fights against American opponents so his feet are wet in the market.
- His U.S. bouts follow domestic success and recent controversies in recent years.
- Benn stopped veterans in earlier career highlights, he might need this experience soon.
- American performances build his international profile at welterweight, a competitive division.
- Strong U.S. results could open bigger paydays and title shots.
If more money is what he seeks, he should get that in the US and if he is in big fights.
Who knows what fights he’ll be in but the Conor Benn American venture has started somewhat solidly.
