The Dave Allen vs Hrgovic final press conference happened moments ago today in boxing in the UK. Allen as unpredictable as ever.
It is a fight that has US interest in boxing as well as the winner will be a contender for many American boxers and worldwide heayweights.
Some think the winner could face Moses Itauma next.

Filip Hrgovic’s Comments
- Hrgovic (19-1, 14 KOs) spoke honestly about taking the fight.
- “To be honest, I wasn’t expecting this kind of fight. I was calling out names like Fabio Wardley, a rematch with Daniel Dubois, or Agit Kabayel. But this fight was offered, it was a good deal, so I accepted.”
- On Dave Allen: “I’m not gonna take him lightly. I know he’s a brave guy, a durable guy, and I know he’s coming to fight. So I’ll do my job.”
- Addressing Allen directly with a smile: “Maybe this is your last fight, so you should enjoy it. Every fight could be our last fight. You should enjoy it.”
Dave Allen’s Comments
- Describing Hrgovic: “He’s a bit like Zac Efron’s character in High School Musical — a bit of an asshole, a bit of a jock. The handsome guy that knows he’s handsome.”
- On Hrgovic’s work ethic: “I thought he was bone idle and lazy… not as lazy as me, but yeah, he’s capable of better.”
- On the fight: “I’ve got no fear of Filip. We’re in Donny, this is his one shot. Dave must slay Goliath.”
- On preparation and pressure: “This is as good as I can be. I’m a big underdog, but the least I can do is give myself a chance. I don’t feel any pressure at all. I’m going to have a fight with all my mates watching against a guy that I’m not meant to win. That’s amazing for me.”
Dave Allen hasn’t changed a bit and we expect wild comments like the above completely from him.
His fighting is as wild though and he can punch and although is an underdog, must be taken seriously by Hrgovic.
That said, Allen is underdog for a reason.
He doesn’t look as focused this training camp as he was in the last one.
The winner of this fight at the weekend will possibly get Moses Itauma or a big fight next so much to fight for between the two.
