Will Jake Paul fight again? He’s said that it is up in the air at the moment pending his doctors advise. Let’s take a look at the pros in this one.
First of all as we’ve said all along, Jake Paul is more a boxing promoter than anything else.
The YouTube celebrity was and is still a novice professional boxer at cruiserweight with some experience now both at cruiserweight and heavyweight.
His last fight at heavyweight saw him wiped out and sent to hospital before last Christmas against Anthony Joshua. He took Joshua six rounds extraordinarily though and landed regularly on Joshua, even more remarkable.
Jake Paul not fighting again however is a good thing:
- Rankings get real again. Paul lost his WBA cruiserweight spot after the Joshua loss.
- Fewer medical bans clogging news. He faced an “indefinite” ban for a double jaw fracture.
- No more huge weight mismatches. He fought 245-lb Joshua as a 200-lb cruiserweight.
- Less “circus show” talk. Promoters say he turned boxing into a circus.
- Title fights get the spotlight. Paul’s events pulled $92M and dominated Netflix.
- Legends avoid influencer paydays. He already fought 58-year-old Mike Tyson.
- Boxing stops competing with WWE/PFL. Paul split time with PFL before ending his MMA run.
- Real injuries kill “fake fight” claims. He needs plates, screws, and a tooth implant.
- Doctors set the rules, not hype. He admits doctors “definitely don’t want me to fight”.
- Media focus returns to contenders. His retirement rumors drive huge engagement.
If for his health if nothing else, if he were step in there again with a big name at heavyweight or cruiserweight, he risks serious injury.
As well, he is doing an above average job as a promoter anyway with his MVP Promotions.
Who knows what will happen with Jake Paul this year but ESPN are showing much of his fighters on his MVP company anyway as well.
Francis Ngannou recently said he would be open to boxing Jake Paul however.
