Mayweather protege Curmel Moton is one of Mayweather’s only real big name fighters left at his promotional company now.
Floyd Mayweather has gone silent recently amid a flurry of all kinds of concerning reports and statements from boxers and those outside of boxing.
His exhibition with Mike Tyson was meant to be this month in Africa but nothing came of it from him or Tyson.
Alas, both Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have drastically gone down in the estimation and respect of Americans and boxing fans worldwide because of it.
Now Mayweather’s rematch with Pacman is up on the air but Curmel Moton is predicting that Mayweather still beats Pacman when they fight this September in a planned rematch.
Here are 10 facts about Curmel Moton’s comments and situation that point to a strong chance Mayweather takes the Pacquiao rematch:
- Curmel Moton says he believes Mayweather will be “100% locked in to boxing, not in an exhibition” for the rematch, with his record on the line and “a lot more at stake”
- Moton told some outlets the plan for the September 19 undercard is “to make it meaningful and forward-looking”, positioning the event as a serious boxing card built around Mayweather
- Moton stated there is a “very good, high-percentage chance” he will definitely be on the Mayweather vs Pacquiao II card, possibly as co-main
- The 20-year-old Moton is promoted within Floyd Mayweather’s stable and has been positioned as a fast-moving prospect with increasing U.S. market visibility
- Moton is 8-0 with 6 wins inside the distance as a pro, and Mayweather has moved him carefully as a long-term project
- Eddie Hearn told Moton’s team to make an offer for Giorgio Visioli, with the bout targeted for the Mayweather–Pacquiao rematch undercard in September
- Moton is returning to the ring after a unanimous decision win over Renny Viamonte Mastrapa in May last year, with his next fight lined up on the rematch undercard
- Event organizer Jaspreet ‘Jas’ Mathur said the September 19 show at The Sphere in Las Vegas intends to “build the next generation of stars” while honoring legends, and Moton fits the profile as Mayweather’s connection
- Boxing promoters expect the rematch to be livestreamed on Netflix on September 19 from The Sphere, with an 18,600-capacity venue, and Moton called it “dope” to be on the undercard of a real Floyd fight
- Mayweather himself has tipped Moton as his successor, and Moton said he’s excited because he’s never been to a real, actual Floyd fight before
The whole thing is suggesting to us that the May Pac 2 fight is still on as a proper pro boxing match and not an exhibition.
Although everyone is still waiting confirmation on this.
Anything less than May Pac 2 as a proper pro boxing match will never be forgiven by boxing fans from Mayweather.
