He’s back now and only last year fought Mario Barrios to a draw in a world title fight.
The eight-division Filipino boxing world champion and Hall of Famer did the impossible last year by coming back at his advanced age to in most people’s eyes defeat Mario Barrios only for the officials to score it a draw.
Barrios since has lost to Ryan Garcia this year but still, Pacquiao showed after going back to his old training camp set up in the US, that if he focuses, he can still compete with some of the best welterweights in the world.
But this year is different and 2026 fans want to now see him in real fights.
As the May Pac 2 saga continues ahead of what fans are expecting Mayweather to confirm that the fight is definitely on soon still for the Sphere in Vegas on Netflix, boxing fans worldwide are expecting it to be a real fight.
A professional fight over at least ten rounds.
Okay, maybe not a championship 12 round fight but at least a real professional boxing match between he and Mayweather over ten three minute rounds in a proper rematch of their bout, their first one, all the way back in 2015.
Mayweather won that by UD on the night and Pacquiao years later still wants to set the record right and put his shoulder injury problems on the night behind him.
For May Pac 2 to now being discussed as a possible exhibition is not what not only boxing fans around the world are expecting, what Pacquiao himself is also expecting in a professional boxing match rematch.
He has said as much in recent interviews.
As are Netflix as well of course.
Floyd Mayweather is all over the place at the moment and by the end of this month he and Mike Tyson were meant to fight in a boxing exhibition in the Congo but that looks to, like most things for Mayweather at the moment, have fallen flat on its face.
The end of April 2026 is around the corner and there is nothing about it anymore.
An exhibition between Mayweather and Pacquiao is surely not what Netflix agreed behind the scenes either.
The clock is ticking for Mayweather. Who knows what will happen him.
