Who Fills The American Star Void Post-Crawford

Terence Crawford also known as ‘Bud’ has now retired from boxing and their is a void after him but that will be filled of course quickly enough in the US.

That’s how professional boxing, professional sport and life works, life goes on — and it will for Crawford too who will go on to great things after boxing this year and beyond.

What he achieved as an athlete in professional boxing was outstanding, a true great and a legend of the United States of America.

Since retiring after defeating Canelo Alvarez on points new emerging stars in the US can fill the gap in the market in America specifically in boxing for active boxers since he is gone.

We think there is a whole host of them — Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson being the two leading names for this ability.

Winning and being impressive is not enough, these two have that X factor, star power in America that goes outside of professional sport to achieve this.

Crawford did so on pure merit in boxing but that’s rare, he’s literally one of the best boxers that ever lived.

Who fills the American star void post-Crawford?

Davis and Stevenson will want to chase some of what he achieved this year.

Davis has a huge fan base in the US due to his exciting fan-friendly knockouts and punching power that is devastating, that has left the likes of Ryan Garcia and many others viciously knocked out over the years.

He needs to fight soon again however and whilst he is a genius boxer, ne needs we think to be a little bit more aggressive this year while still boxing smart.

Stevenson on the other hand is a newer star in the US and a pure boxing technician but can knock people out as well when he puts his punches together and breaks opponents down.

Crucially he comes from a highly successful amateur and Olympic medal background for team USA in the amateurs which can often be a big catalyst in the story lines of budding new household nationwide American star names in boxing.

Mayweather, Foreman, Ali, Roy Jones and many others all came form strong amateur careers for the USA and these all played a part in helping them become proper stars in the sport after.
