Boxing legend and multi-weight division world champion Shane Mosley was at the fight this weekend for Jake Paul vs Chavez Jr.
A fight Jake Paul won by a wide unanimous points decision in the end.
After the fight Mosley gave his analysis on what he saw to Fight Hub:
“Well, first of all, I think Jake Paul fought a great fight. He moved well, threw great punches, and for his experience level, he did fantastic. Junior, on the other hand, didn’t throw any punches until the third or fourth round. He just walked forward, and I don’t know what he was doing. It was weird to see that type of fighting. But that’s not Jake’s fault. Jake did what he needed to do and won convincingly.”
He was less than complimentary to Chavez Jr however:
“Junior needs to retire. If you can’t throw punches for two, three, or four rounds, you need to retire. What are we doing? He’s basically living off his father’s name because he didn’t fight until maybe the last two rounds, where he had some success when he finally threw punches. It’s the weirdest thing ever. But Jake did a great job.”
Mosley is a respected world champion and a smart analyst on boxing.
For him to say Jake Paul boxed well says a lot about the improvements Paul has made as a boxer.
Chavez Jr needs to re-evaluate what he wants to do next in boxing.
