Chris Eubank Snr Gets Shakespearean About His Son, Boxing And Life

If there is a bigger character in all of boxing than Chris Eubank senior we certainly don’t know one. The man is a complete unique, once off.

A special fighter and human being, no doubt.

Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV at the weekend, Eubank sr remembers Michael Watson who he had a tragic fight with years ago that left Watson injured after the fight (Watson is doing well today thankfully), as well as got deep about boxing, his son and life:

“I was emotional (when we crossed paths years ago), feeling Michael’s (Watson’s) pain as he walked that mile, masking his struggle with a smile. It brought tears to my eyes. My comments were raw and theatrical, but I’ve since calmed. My son is my son, and I forgive instantly. I’m here to support him in every way, despite not liking some of his actions, like his language. I love him with the love of Christ. Life is a play, and we must enjoy it by loving what’s in front of us.”

Good for him.

That said, the fight business is the fight business.

Punish your opponent more than he tries to punish you. By scoring more points through skill or by rendering the other opponent out for the count.

The sweet science. Simple. That’s the nature of professional boxing.

His son is a gladiator and showed that in the ring at the weekend — as did Conor Benn.

A great example of the entire sport last weekend.
