Oleksandr Usyk the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world is a fearless man in boxing and outside of it. This is classic Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk is a good guy but people don’t realize the level of smartness outside of boxing and professional sport, as well as ruthlessness he’s capable of, they just see the funny jokey relaxed guy all the time. Usyk is a special guy who is one of the greatest fighters that ever lived.
A short time ago after the announcement of the big Daniel Dubois rematch and unification of all the heavyweight belts on July 19th at Wembley stadium, Usyk whilst sitting next to Dubois in studio, said to Talk Sport:
“That fight’s in the past. I live in the present. [Looking for picture on phone] Maybe it wasn’t a clean punch (he caught me with in the first fight). Daniel’s a tough fighter. He beat Hrgovic, Miller, and Joshua—impressive. He might be better now, but so am I. I believe I’ll win. I feel it. The 90,000 fans at Wembley don’t matter if they support Daniel. I love fighting in my opponent’s territory. My focus is the ring, my team, and me—not the crowd. He’s a good boxer. I respect everyone who trains in the gym because I know how tough it is. I respect Daniel, too. On July 19th, I’ll bring light, joy, and victory. I’ll bring a fight and stay the undisputed champion from Ukraine.”
Usyk is in for real hell fire though this time around with a younger, much better than when they first fought, ‘Dynamite’ Daniel Dubois.
Usyk is a better fighter as well though, a much better fighter.
This is heavyweight boxing where one punch can change anything over night.
That’s the brilliance of professional boxing.
Remember Andy Ruiz years ago against Anthony Joshua, Dubois even last year against Joshua.
