Boxing legend Nigel Benn was ringside obviously for his son’s loss to Chris Eubank Jr and gave an honest and pragmatic reaction to what he saw.
A rematch is now under immediate discussion for the bout.
Speaking after the fight at the official press conference, Benn snr made some good observations:
“I think Conor will—I think it’s in his genes. He knows what he has to do, and he knew what he did wrong, you know—laying on the ropes too much, winging shots, things he didn’t do in training. But I’m not going to knock him for that, you know. We’ll go home, watch the fight, see where he went wrong, and then we’ll come back.”
Agreed.
He was loading up too much at times and caught off balance, and getting caught coming in by Eubank who walked him onto uppercuts at times while Eubank Jr was on the back foot with that uppercut too.
Brilliant fight from him and both boxers though.
Eubank changed his style a little mid fight going from being on the back foot to more on the front foot.
Also, Benn didn’t use much of a jab or combinations that we thought he would, as the faster fighter and fresher fighter of the two.
Still, a very close fight though.
