Some boxing legends never die after they pass on.

Maybe that’s one of the best things about the sport of boxing is its legendary fighters who’s fights live on.

Long after they are gone.

When one thinks of Nicaraguan boxers of the the most recent era the likes of Roman Gonzalez and Ricardo Mayorga come to mind.

However, probably the most revered of all is one Alexis Argüello.

He passed on in 2009 at the age of 57. His birthday was April 19th however and on this day boxing remembers one of its greats.

Nicknamed ‘The Gentleman of the Ring’ he was a three-weight World Champion.

His final professional boxing record read 77-8-62 KO.
