It’s hard to believe that Tyson Fury will challenge WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder on December 1st when you think about where he was not long ago.
Just a couple of years ago Fury was hitting the booze and cocaine prolifically.
On a daily basis almost to the point where he was obese and clinically depressed.
When he had the brain wave to make a comeback to boxing the first person he told was his wife it turns out.
Speaking to Breandan Schaub on ‘Below The Belt’ podcast, he said:
“I rang my wife up and said to me wife I’m coming back to boxing!”
To which she replied:
“No, you’re not. You’re too fat.”
On just how heavy he was:
“I was 400 pounds and counting. 400!I’m stood here today 259/260lbs. Like in England, we have pints of beer. It’s like a big thing. I used to drink 20 of them like 4 or 5 times a week. This belly was out here, this back was out here. I had wings on me. I’m disfigured for life. I’ve got stretch marks all over my body (from the weight loss).”
The fight with Wilder is fast approaching and I’d expect Fury to come in somewhere between 245-250 pounds in similar condition to what he was against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
Just over a month to go until fight night.
