The former super-middleweight world champion seems to have a similar opinion on Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder to most boxing fans.
It’s a fight that the world of boxing has wanted to see for sometime now.
Unfortunately, we don’t seem to be anywhere nearer it happening.
Joshua is certainly the A-Side in the negotiations as things stand, especially coming off the back of this weekend’s stoppage win over Alexander Povetkin.
A feat no one had accomplished over the Russian warrior before.
Wilder takes on Tyson Fury on December 1st however and if he were to win in style an argument could then be made for a 50/50 split with Joshua.
Joshua and his team don’t seem to want to wait for that date to happen, however, and appear to desire getting the fight signed soon in advance so planning can begin for the April date already booked for Wembley again.
A cynical school of thought could suggest also they simply don’t want to potentially lose money in the negotiations if they waited for Wilder to possibly knockout Fury.
Understandable from a business sense.
According to Give Me More Sport Carl Froch like all fans however just wants to see the fight happen:
“I want to see him fight Deontay Wilder. I think AJ does it, but I don’t think it matters now. He could fight Dillian Whyte, that would be a great one, look how well Whyte did against Joseph Parker – you can’t write him off.”
It’s the fight the world of boxing wants to see, hopefully we get to see it at long last in 2019.
