Oleksandr Usyk vs Tony Bellew for the undisputed cruiserweight championship of the world has been formally confirmed today in further positive news for professional boxing.
Many times in life, like in boxing, people talk.
The older I get in life, after turning 30 earlier this year, the more and more I realize the old adage is really true.
Talk is cheap.
In truth, actions speak much, much louder than words ever could. In reality.
Liverpool’s Tony Bellew has decided to step up to the ultimate challenge and take on pound for pound rated cruiserweight king Usyk in a real old school, throwback move.
That action in itself speaks volumes about his character.
All four recognized championship belts will be on the line and the bout will take place on November 10th at the Manchester Arena live on DAZN in the US and Sky Sports Box Office in the UK.
Bookmakers place Usyk as a heavy favorite but Bellew won’t be too bothered by that. He’s proven odds makers wrong time and time again.
It’s a tall order though. But he surely knows that in heart of hearts.
Usyk recently won the World Boxing Super Series and the Muhammad Ali trophy that went along with it.
But, challenge is what Bellew is after with this by all accounts planned on being his final fight.
Challenge and legacy will be on offer here in spadefuls if he were to pull it off.
