Bob Arum Finally Clarifies Pacquiao’s Tax Situation In The US

In recent months there has been a lot of rumors online about Manny Pacquiao owing substantial tax to the IRS in the US but now for the first time, his former promoter has gone on record about the situation.

There has also been a lot of talk about Pacquiao taking on Amir Khan and Mikey Garcia for his next fight in December.

But as time goes on, the more neither of those two look likely next up. For different reasons.

Speaking to Villainfy Media, Arum finally admitted Pacquiao can’t fight in the US because of tax issues:

“That isn’t going to happen either (Mikey Garcia vs Manny Pacquiao) because Pacquiao got to fight abroad (outside the US) because of the tax situation. Who’s looking for a place abroad where it can happen? You know, Manny wants to get paid like he did years ago. I don’t know if it’s there anymore.”

It was reported earlier in the week that Pacquiao was looking for in the regions of $13 million to fight Amir Khan in the UK.

Pacquiao could stage a fight again in Asia come December under his own promotional company M.P. Promotions of course and choose to not sign with a promoter at all.

As things progress, this looks more and more like it will be the case for ‘Pacman’.
