Gennady Golovkin’s true feelings about Canelo Alvarez have really started to come out in recent weeks. The closer the fight gets to September 15th, the less his disgust for Canelo he can contain.

But this wasn’t always the case.

Closer to the start of their pro careers the two were sparring partners and shared each other’s company in Big Bear California on more than one occasion.

Going into the first fight in May of last year there was a mutual respect between two elite level warriors.

Now, there’s genuine dislike between two elite level warriors.

Speaking ahead of the fight, Golovkin has called Canelo a liar and a cheat.

Among other remarks.

Now he has come up with a new name for the Mexican boxing star, his supporters and team:

“The people who support him and stand by him are swindlers, just like him. How could one respect them? Of course there is no respect.”

Golovkin typically has never, ever spoken an opponent like this throughout his boxing career.

This could be the first time we see a genuinely angry Gennady Golovkin inside the ring.
