Pacquiao Drops Sparring Partner Ahead Of Matthysse Fight

Glimpses of the old Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao appearing to be forming in the gym at the moment ahead of his latest bout on July 15th.

The legendary Filipino boxer takes on Lucas Matthysse for the WBA ‘Regular’ welterweight world title next month as he bids to start to close the chapter on a wonderful career in style.

While not officially confirmed as Pacquiao’s last fight, it could certainly be one of them and accordingly, he’s stepping up his preparations in the gym to make sure that no matter what, 2018 is a strong year for him if it is to be his final year as a professional fighter.

According to The Inquirer, Pacquiao dropped a sparring mate this week with a straight right hand shot to the jaw.

A single, punishing shot that dropped sparring partner Gherich Chavez whom had to be given a moment to pause before proceeding to carry on the sparring session.

Head trainer of Pacquiao, Buboy Fernandez commented:

“I would say he is already 85 percent ready but we don’t want him to peak too soon.”

If Pacquiao comes into the fight in the shape expected and with the sharp bag work and sparring he has produced in recent weeks, expect a hell of a fight from start to finish.

The bout has been confirmed to take place next month in Malaysia on July 15th.
