It has been a busy morning for leading boxing promoter Eddie Hearn today who between new signings has just confirmed another world title fight has been made.
WBA world bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell will return to action on May 25th in a massive fight in Japan:
More breaking news this morning @JamieMcdonnell1 will defend his @WBABoxing World title against Naoya Inoue on May 25th in Japan live on @SkySportsBoxing ???????
— Eddie Hearn (@EddieHearn) March 6, 2018
Inoue is recognised as one of the very best fighters in world boxing today, so will represent a massive challenge but an exciting one too for McDonnell.
Travelling to his backyard of Japan shows a lot of courage from McDonnell too, so kudos to him for this.
Fight fans have been pleased with the news so far this morning:
Nothing but respect once again for McDonnell. Some talk about fighting the best, he does it. Ridiculously tough ask, but best of luck!
