Boxing legend ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley defends Canelo Alvarez following a failed doping test ahead of his rematch with Gennady Golovkin on May 5th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Mosley is known to boxing fans the world over for his outstanding career in the ring – but now also works as a partner in the Golden Boy Promotions company which promotes Canelo’s fights.
It is widely known that Canelo is the promotion’s biggest star in the sport at this time.
Following a comment from a previous Canelo opponent on social media, Mosley came to the defence of Canelo following the controversy:
Come on. That’s not why you lost. That drug is contaminating everything in Mexico and that’s where he lives. He is a natural beast. Canelo is a clean fighter. I been in camp with him. @LiamBeefySmith https://t.co/wKTvB0QFiR

In a rather strange occurrence despite the news only being confirmed yesterday, it was Canelo’s promoter that confirmed the news to the public first, not the doping test administrator.
What’s made things more strange is that already they are saying they are still remaining hopeful of the fight happening, so soon after learning of the news.
Either way, as long as the fight happens boxing fans will be happy.
It’s an eagerly awaited rematch that fans have been looking forward to for months.
If it were cancelled now there would be widespread disgust.
