Dave Allen was challenging for the Commonwealth heavyweight title tonight in a fight he was expected to win but something outside of his control struck that spelled disaster.
Cuts are always a job hazard as a professional boxer and tonight Dave Allen suffered a nasty one early on that caused the fight to be halted allowing defending champion Lenroy Thomas to retain his belt.
After one single round of action things had to be waved off:

Heart break for Allen but no doubt the fight will be ordered again by promoter Eddie Hearn given the freakish nature of the ending.
Before the fight Hearn told Allen this was his last chance in terms of a significant opportunity under him.
Surely something like this won’t be it for Allen.
Expect a rematch sooner rather than later.
